Rev. John F. Hirling - Interim Pastor
John's ordained ministry spans 19 years. Before coming to Peace, he served First Presbyterian Church in Angleton as their Interim Pastor, Oaks Presbyterian Church in northwest Houston (for 12 years) and First Presbyterian Church, Allen, Tx. Before entering vocational ministry, John was a practicing attorney. He sometimes refers to himself as a recovering lawyer who by the grace of God doesn't need to practice anymore.
John's earliest religious training was in the Church of Christ, a church strong in scripture based living but also somewhat rigid, judgmental and intolerant. Over the years he has learned from priests, and rabbis, vicars and rectors. From the Presbyterian Church USA he learned grace means more than a prayer before a meal. He's come to believe that all denominations, indeed, all faiths, have a piece of the pie but nobody has the whole pie. God is just so much more than any of our understandings.
John and his wife, Terri, have been married seven years and are the proud parents of three horses, a cat and a number of fish.
