When I was a kid I used to have a little stuffed bear that played the old classic song, "You Are My Sunshine".  I used to wind that thing up and listen to it over and over again as I was going to bed.  My mom would sing along with it as she put me to bed.  It has always been a very comforting song to me.  So I can really relate to the email I recently recieved from one of our church members, Vicki:

Good  Morning, Scott,

On October 18th, I went to Make Your Mark day at the National MS Society here in Houston.  Those of us who have MS or loved ones suffering with the disease get together and volunteer our time for the National MS Society once a month.  We do have fun, and we are making friends!  On the 18th, we were treated to a Halloween party sponsored by a local company.  During the party, Phillip played some songs while we ate our pizza.  One of the songs he played was "You Are My Sunshine."  That got my attention!  In June 2009, Madeline Tom prayed for me for healing.  During her prayers, she said she kept hearing the song, "You Are My Sunshine," in her mind.  When she told us and asked if we knew what that meant, I told her I used to sing that song to my kids when they were little.  In July, Alex and I had the privilege to go to New Mexico on a short vacation.  We went to the Taos  ski resort on July 4th.  As we were walking up to the buildings, a musical group was playing one last song.  Yes, it was "You Are My Sunshine!"  The following Saturday July 11th, I put on the cd from the movie, O Brother Where Art Thou.  The third song was "You Are My Sunshine," and I was reminded again of God's goodness.  I do believe that God has heard our prayers not only for me, but for others.

Thanks for listening (and reading).

Love in Christ,

Vicki

I've always had a theory that God shows up in the random, unexpected little coincidences-that-aren't-coincidences.  It seems Vicki can confirm my theory.  For me, that song has come to mean more than just a comforting lullaby.  Imagine God singing that song to you, reminding you how special you are to Him.  You're special because he created you just as you are.  You're not special because of your accomplishments, or success, or grades in school, or number of friends on facebook (or in real life!), or your salary, or anything else you've done on your own.  You're special because God chose it to be so.  God chose to send His one and only son to die for you on the cross so that you could live with Him forever.  Truly, you are precious in God's sight.

So keep looking for Him to show up and then RESPOND to his goodness in your life by passing on the blessings you've received!  And keep telling the stories!

In Christ,
Scott
